“Pass time pleasantly” -Dahl Waters
This is something my grandpa would say to my dad who then passed it down to me. It was especially said to me and my siblings as we were growing up. As kids we tend to be pretty negative about anything that isn’t going our way. To have a more positive mindset will overall boost our happiness and help us pass our time on this earth more pleasantly.
“The secret of getting ahead, is getting started” -Mark Twain
When we have a lot of anxiety or “bubbles” it's easy to feel overwhelmed and the last thing we want to do is our work. Our minds want to avoid this stress at all costs so we procrastinate and overall make the workload worse. Getting started as soon as possible might not be as fun but the sooner we start the sooner we finish. Starting is how we get locked in which makes us focused and finish our work quickly.

Short Term Goals:

-Body weight 210
Long Term Goal:

Section 8:
Role Model
My role model this year is my brother Dallas. This is really such a great choice as he’s both positively and negatively influenced my life. While in high school he was a bit of a mean big brother and would constantly pick on me for being a pudgy couch potato. I’m a believer in bullying, it sucks but it really does work. My brother and my family overall picking on me for my body is what gave me the motivation to lose weight and now gain it back better by going to the gym. Dallas has been a positive influence on me. He’s the type of person I hope to be and it’s realistic because our lives are so similar. As he’s matured through his life I try to follow in his footsteps. All of the positive decisions I’m making for my future have been following the choices he’s made or making. Hearing about all the positive influences he had on people on his mission as well as the impact it made on himself has made me want to serve.

Section 9:
Inner Animal
My inner animal for this is a panda bear. Now that I am a senior, gained weight, and gotten taller, I’ve felt a bit larger than the majority of the campus. I now feel like the giant seniors I used to look up to when I was a freshman. I used to think they were all so scary but once I got to know them I found out most of them were very nice. This is a pretty good description of me. I’ve been told by people that they were scared of me before they got to know me. That's why I have chosen a panda bear. Before knowing who they really are they can seem scary and not something you want to approach. However, once you get to know them you realize they are kind gentle souls. Panda bears are also known to be horrible at surviving; they like to have fun and they often get themselves into trouble doing so. Similarly I do lots of activities that may not be the smartest for my survival rate.

Song about me
Banana Pancakes, Jack Johnson
Well, can't you see that it's just rainin'?
There ain't no need to go outside
But baby
You hardly even notice
When I try to show you this
Song is meant to keep you
Doin' what you're supposed to
Wakin' up too early
Maybe we could sleep in
Make you banana pancakes
Pretend like it's the weekend now
We could pretend it all the time
Can't you see that it's just rainin'?
There ain't no need to go outside
But just maybe
Halaka ukulele, mama made a baby
Really don't mind the practice
'Cause you're my little lady
Lady, lady love me
'Cause I love to lay here lazy
We could close the curtains
Pretend like there's no world outside
Then we could pretend it all the time
And can't you see that it's just rainin'?
There ain't no need to go outside
Ain't no need, ain't no need
Mmm, mmm, mmm, mmm
Can't you see, can't you see?
Rain all day and I don't mind
But the telephone's singing, ringing
It's too early, don't pick it up
We don't need to
We got everything we need right here
And everything we need is enough
Just so easy when the whole world fits inside of your arms
Do we really need to pay attention to the alarm?
Wake up slow
Mmm-mmm, wake up slow
But baby
You hardly even notice
When I try to show you this
Song is meant to keep you
From doin' what you're supposed to
Wakin' up too early
Maybe we could sleep in
Make you banana pancakes
Pretend like it's the weekend now
We could pretend it all the time
Can't you see that it's just rainin'
There ain't no need to go outside
Ain't no need, ain't no need
Rain all day and I really, really, really don't mind
Can't you see, can't you see?
We gotta wake up slow
This song connects with me as this year I’m trying to do better about taking care of myself and not worrying about the expectations of others. It reminds me of my childhood when my mom would wake me up and when my siblings came home from seminary and we’d all eat breakfast together before they’d go to school. Now that my siblings are all moved out and my parents are at when I come for seminary listen to music and make myself breakfast now. Even though I’m growing up and becoming more independent I can still live a happy structured life like I did growing up with a large family.
Section 13:
Why I like being a member of Leadership
This is a class like no other class. Being the last of 6 children that have been in this program from 2009-2024, you might think that I only did it because my siblings did it. This is far from the truth though. In all honesty none of my siblings ended up being big Morty fans. But they all told me, dude you need to take that class. The things I’ve learned about professionalism by being in the program are equally matched by what I’ve learned from interacting with my peers in the class. I feel like I've matured the most from this class and I'm very grateful for that. It’s the only class I've ever had that I’m close with everyone, including the teacher. It’s a challenging program, but we have our fun along the way.
Section 14:
Peer reflection
Someone in this class I’d like to highlight for showing true selflessness is Ava Brochini. She has been leading the seniors into winterfest efficiently and successfully. One example I’d like to share is giving many different options of when to come to help work on the poster but also made clear the needs of the types of people we needed (artistic or not), as well as how many people we needed. This was really appreciated as it got done, looked great, and we didn’t waste people's time even though it meant she spent more of hers.
