Technology Commissioner

As Technology Commissioners, Derek and I have been working on the dynamics of the sound system. He has been mentoring me on how to properly setup, use, and clean up the equipment. So far we have played music at Back to School Night and Club Rush. We have also started recording our home games, and I have been learning much about when to record and for how long. We still have many games to record and school events to play music for. Regarding the sound system, I am working on getting it setup and put away faster so in cases like Club Rush, I am not as late to class.
I am currently not on any standing committees.
I was on the Back to School Night and Club rush special committees. Both of which I, with the assistance of Derek Ngyuen, played school appropriate music for.
I have really appreciated and enjoyed the mentorship program. I have Anthony Sausado as my mentor and I couldn’t be more grateful for the assistance and guidance he has given me. I missed core camp and there was a lot of paperwork that I didn’t understand what to do with and I didn’t really know what to do in my journal and Anthony helped me out with everything.
One concern I have for our leadership family is our use of class time. It’s always important to socialize with your classmates as it helps us grow, but I think it has come to the point where we are wasting valuable time in class.
One person I would like to make a positive note about is Derek Nyguen. He has been like an older brother in leadership with all the qualities older brothers come with. He does pick on me and messes around with me but he still has done a great job of teaching what I need to do, has given me rides to the events we are working, and helps me out when I have questions about our job, school, and relationships.
A change I would like to see in leadership is the incorporation of socialising while staying on task. As I have mentioned previously, I have noticed myself and others in leadership not using time wisely in class. I know we can have both because I have seen it happen while we are putting up flyers and setting up posters. We as a team should hold each other accountable for making sure we find something we need to be doing, do it while we socialize or socialise after it’s been completed.
The change I try to make on campus is to spread kindness. My biggest pet peeve is when I see or hear people being mean to others even if it’s just in a joking way. This sometimes makes people think I’m a pushover which I have been working on trying to be less of one. My goal for high school is to leave the school known as a kind person and influencing others to leave Ripon known as the same.
